Numbas Themes#
The theme used by Numbas exams can be customised either by editing the built in theme files (details available in the Numbas Documentation), by uploading a theme package to the Numbas editor or by being granted access to an existing theme created by another user.
It is recommended that the themes developed for use in The College/University are used to ensure consistency.
There are two theme files available, one for The College
.
And one for the Western Sydney University
.
If you experience any issues with these themes, please email Samuel Frost. (The College Theme is currently version 1.2, The Western Theme is currently version 1.1. The changelog for each theme is avaialble in the .zip files.)
Note
There was an issue when Numbas was updated to version 7.0 that caused the themes not to work. This was caused by the inclusion of the ‘exam.css’ file in the theme package. This has been removed in the latest version. Please ensure you are using the latest version of the themes in your exam packages moving forward.
Importing Themes#
To import one of the above themes, login to the Numbas Editor and click on your profile icon on the top right and select your profile.
Next, on the left hand side of your screen you should see a link to your Themes.
From this screen you will see all the themes you have installed.
You can upload your theme by clicking on the Upload a theme button.
Note
There is currently an issue when importing themes into Numbas if you do not already have a theme in your profile. The workaround for this is to create a new theme under your profile first. You can give the theme a name like Workaround – it will not be used. After you have this empty theme you should be able to import the theme as per normal.
Finally, you can then browse for the theme you downloaded and upload it using your browser.
You should now see your theme under the Themes tab. You can apply the theme when you are creating your Numbas exam.
